NSIA Insurance Company Limited started operations in Ghana in the year 2010 as a General Insurer offering non-life insurance products including Motor, Travel, Fire, Marine, General Accident and Engineering. It was founded with the mission to “showcase the real face of Insurance through positive experience by offering competitive and innovative insurance solutions” with the vision of being “the preferred and recognized Pan African Insurance company, performing according to international standards”, guided by the core values of Responsibility, Innovation, Customer-focused,Integrity and Performance.
NSIA Ghana is a subsidiary of Groupe NSIA, a Pan-African Financial Service Group which currently operates in 12 countries in Western and Central Africa. Founded in 1995 and Headquartered in Abidjan, the Group owns 26 subsidiary Insurance Companies, 5 Banks, a Real Estate, Asset Management, Stock Brokerage, Foundation and I.T. with over 3,000 employees.
NSIA Insurance (Ghana) is rated BBB+(GH) (triple B plus) with a “Stable” outlook in terms of Claims Paying Ability by the Global Credit Rating (GCR), South Africa. The company has strong capitalization with resultant international solvency margin equated to a high 221% at FY17. In addition we have maintained regulatory solvency (CAR) at high levels above 740% as against regulatory benchmark of 150%. We have strong asset quality with high liquidity position.

Mr. Yaw Adom-Boateng is a Chartered Insurer and was elected a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII) U.K. in 2007. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Western Sydney (City of London College, UK).
He started his professional career in 1999 with Great Alliance Insurance Company in Banjul, The Gambia after graduating from the West African Insurance Institute (WAII). Returning to Ghana in 2005, he joined Star Assurance Company Ltd where he rose through the ranks to the high rank of Chief Manager Operations. His 17 years’ expertise spans across the areas of Work groups & Branch Operations Management, Underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance, Risk Management,and Special Risks & Projects such as bancassurance, e-insurance and global credit rating.
Mr. Adom-Boateng is a visiting lecturer at the West African Insurance Institute (WAII) Banjul, The Gambia and has mentored several young insurance practitioners to successfully undertake the CII programs.
Jean Kacou DIAGOU serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of NSIA Participations; consisting of a Holding, 22 insurance companies and 2 banks in 12 countries in West and Central Africa S.A. He is a professional and an expert in the industry with over 40 years experience in Insurance. Before establishing NSIA, he worked with the UAP. He contributed very actively to the restructuring of the banking and insurance sector particularly through his participation in the preparation of the CIMA Code, a regulation which is commonly applicable in 14 African countries. Mr. DIAGOU is a Member of the Board of Directors of CICARE, Lomé, the President of the Federation of west African Business Organizations (FOPAO) and member of the Management Board of CEPIC.
Janine Diagou is currently the Group Managing Director of NSIA Participations. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from IFAM Paris and a Master of Science in Finance from Middlesex University, London. She joined the NSIA Group in 1999 as the Director responsible for audit and control management of the Ivorian subsidiary. In this position for five years, she honed her knowledge of the group. She was named CFO of NSIA Ivory Coast in 2004, then NSIA Participations, and in 2006, played a key role in the acquisition of BIAO bank, the oldest bank in Ivory Coast which is now the third ranking bank on the Ivorian market. She was promoted in 2011 to the function of deployment of the strategy of Group NSIA business
Bilingual and Holder of a master's degree in law and a diploma from the National Insurance School of Paris (France), He was Deputy Managing Director of the Togolese insurance group before being subscriber and Regional director of Africa RE Abidjan. He serves as Group Managing Director and is in Charge of The Insurance Pole at NSIA Participations S.A. Mr. Lawson has been a Director at African Reinsurance Corporation since 2015 and became a Director in NSIA Insurance Limited on June 28, 2011. Bene LAWSON is a member of the Institute of Administrators in South Africa, France and Canada. He has been a director in charge of the governance of the NSIA Group.
Dr. Abiba Zakariah is the Group Chief Operations Officer of WAICA Reinsurance Company limited.
She holds a Doctorate in Management Programme from Swiss Management Centre, Geneva, Switzerland a Master's Degree in Marketing from the University of Ghana, Legon. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Institute of Risk Management Professionals Ghana and a Chartered Marketer, has attended several courses both local and international and is currently a student at the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Saltpong and a law student at KAAF university, Accra Ghana.
Dr. Abiba Zakariah has over twenty-five years' working experience. She is a visiting lecturer at the West African Insurance Institute, a resource person at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Ghana Insurance College. She has presented several lectures/speeches on different topics in sub-Saharan African. She is also a council member of the Institute of Risk Management Professionals Ghana.
She has served in various capacity in the country. In the insurance industry she was the Chairperson of Chartered Insurance Ladies Association, a project manager of the Agric Insurance Pool, a member of the Agricultural Insurance Pool Steering and Technical Committees, the “No Premium No Cover” Committee and the reinsurance Committee and was a council member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. She was the Group Chief Operations Officer of TG Holdings until February 2018 and the Managing Director of Ghana Re until August 2017.
Dr. Abiba Zakariah Chairs the Bluerose Construction Ltd Board, a member of the Board of NASIA Insurance Company, Priority Insurance Company, CDH group of Companies Ltd and Sureway Assemblies of God Church. She chaired the Ghana Oil and Gas Board and served on the following Boards; Ghana Reinsurance, Hollard Insurance Ghana, Unique Life and the Ghana Agric Insurance Pool.
As a motivational speaker she has spoken in a number of institutions including the University of Ghana, Legon and the SOS Hermann Gmeiner college in Ghana. She also posts daily motivational quotes on ‘YourQuote’, Facebook and mentor’s some troubled teenagers. She was awarded by the Northern Youth for Peace and development for her contribution to National Development in 2017.
Ben is a seasoned, finance and consulting executive with over 18 years’ experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity and Strategy Consulting. He possesses a proven track record of deal execution, transaction structuring and managing investment portfolios across the West African sub-region. He is the Founder and Managing Partner of Axcero Advisors, a West African focused Advisory firm that offers comprehensive corporate advisory and investment banking services to corporate, Institutional, Government and Government-related clients within the sub-region.
Through his career, Ben has held senior executive management positions with the following companies: Senior Partner, Highland Group USA, Vice President Africa, Chester Engineers USA, Jonah Capital (South Africa and Ghana), Citigroup (USA), Ecobank (West Africa) and Stanbic Bank (Ghana, Nigeria). He also serves as non-executive board director of First Atlantic Bank and Trust Logistics Limited, and on the Advisory Council of the Sam E. Jonah School of Business.
He graduated First Class Honours from the University of Ghana Business School and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Is the General Manager of Operations. She Joined the company in August, 2018.
Prior to her appointment, she worked with Vanguard Assurance Company for sixteen years as an underwriter and claims person in various units and departments.
She is a Chartered Insurer, Chartered Marketer and holds an Executive MBA in Strategic and project Management.
Benjamin currently heads the Northern Zone of NSIA INSURANCE COMPANY LIMITED. He was previously the head of marketing and business development (2009-2011), head of business development and broker relations (2007-2009) of CDH Insurance. Benjamin also had a stint with Metropolitan Insurance Company Limited.
He has extensive experience in marketing management and Insurance Marketing, has practical understanding of the operations of the Strategic Marketing in the Ghanaian environment and technical insurance operation. Benjamin holds a Bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Ghana and Advanced Diploma in Applied Insurance from Ghana Insurance College, an MBA in Strategic Marketing from the University of Hull UK.
Benjamin is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana and a member of Chartered Institute of Insurance. He is a Chartered Insurer with over 18 years’ experience in the Insurance Industry of Ghana.
Michael Akesseh holds an MBA - Finance from Regis University, Denver, USA as well as a Bachelor's Degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Michael started his insurance career in 2002 with Allstate Insurance Company USA, and Hollard Insurance in 2012 before joining NSIA in 2016 as head of Broker Relations. He was appointed Head – Business Development (Southern Zone) in September, 2018.
Aaron was appointed the General Manager–Finance on 11th July 2016 to partner the Managing Director with strategic finance, investing and accounting decisions to drive revenue growth and create shared-value within the structured governance, regulatory and risk environment. He has modernized the legacy settings and improved enterprise analytics with a focus on financial planning and analysis. He led the team and processes that got NSIA Ghana rated BBB+ by the Global Credit Rating (GCR), South Africa. His experience spans financial and management reporting, budgeting, analytic, taxation, treasury & investment management, credit control and regulatory reporting in mobile commerce, telecoms, health insurance and non-life general insurance.
Prior to joining the NSIA family, Aaron served as Finance & Reporting Manager for the Health Insurance Business at Metropolitan Ghana, a member of the financial services group; Metropolitan International (MMI, SA) between the July 2014 and July 2016. He served as controller for both the Administrator and the Mutual scheme with over 17,000 members under management. With the reputation as the turnaround manager, Aaron handled the seamless accounting transition and due diligence of revenue and cost from Mutual scheme to Private Commercial turning the corner to profitability.
He has also worked with the telecom giant, Airtel Ghana where he started of as an Accounting Officer and rose through the ranks to the position of an Accountant, handling different responsibilities in mobile commerce (Airtel Money), inventory, fixed assets, Interconnect & Roaming. He handled the accounting,analytics and reporting of revenue (incl Accounts Receivable), cost (incl Accounts Payable), and settlement of key accounts with the 5 local telecom operators (Vodafone, MTN, GLO, Tigo, Expresso), 8 international Carriers (AT&T, Belgacom, France Telecom, British telecom etc) and inter company buckets with all 18 operating countries within Bharti Airtel Group, contributing over 30%+ of Airtel Ghana’s revenue. As a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana he has an outstanding knowledge in International Financial reporting standards (IFRS). He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration (Accounting option) from the University of Ghana Business School.Aaron embodies everything teamwork, excellence and he is very proficient with Advanced Excel and modelling. He has attended key courses and possesses strong communication and team leadershipdynamic skills.
Raphael is a Chartered Certified Accountant with many years of experience. He holds an MSc degree in Strategic Management from the University of Glamorgan, Wales, United Kingdom as well as a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Cape Coast. Raphael worked with KPMG, an international firm of Chartered Accountants before joining NSIA. He was appointed the Internal Auditor of NSIA in July, 2014.
Rowland is an experienced Information Systems Engineer with many years of experience. He makes organizations win by expertly weaving Information Technology, Processes & People together. Rowland is also trained in diverse environments and technologies from Microsoft, Oracle, Acronis and CISCO. He is also part of organizations like PMI, ISACA and IEEE. He was appointed Head of MIS at NSIA in November, 2017
Mr Joseph Awuku Oppong joined NSIA Insurance in 2018 as the Risk and Compliance Manager. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business administration from the University of Professional Studies and Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from the University of Cape Coast. Before joining NSIA Insurance, he worked with Wapic Insurance Ghana Ltd, a subsidiary of Wapic plc, Nigeria where he served in various roles. He joined as a team member of Enterprise Risk Management and after been promoted was deployed to assist the claims department. He was later redeployed to the serve as the Head of Enterprise Risk Management unit, a position he occupied before moving to NSIA Insurance.
His experience covers Enterprise Risk Management, Claims administration, Risk assessment reviews, Internal control, corporate governance, Anti–money laundering and Business Continuity Planning/Crises Management.
Charles is currently Head of People & Corporate Resource at NSIA Insurance – Ghana. He is in charge of the human resource and administrative function of the company.
He holds a degree in social science from University of Ghana, Legon. He has attended a wide variety of courses and participated in numerous seminars in his field. He has also acted as resource person at training programmes in human resource management.
He has over fifteen years’ experience in his field gained from working in a wide range of organizations both in Ghana and abroad.
He has worked with NSIA since its inception in the year 2010 in Ghana. Prior to that, he was with CDH Insurance Company which was taken over by NSIA. He has played a very active role in driving organizational change and performance improvements in the company.
